Tyler received a B.A. magna cum laude in Ethnic Studies and Gender & Sexuality Studies from Brown University, where he was a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow and an undergraduate research/teaching assistant at the Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America.  Tyler’s current research focuses on the ways in which racial/gender formations of indigeneity have been negotiated through colonial systems of slavery in the Americas.
